Introducing the HondaJet

Jan 23, 2018
The Japanese automobile company has officially made their entrance into the aviation industry with the production of their Honda HA-420 HondaJet. The aircraft is being produced and sold by the Honda Aircraft Company, a subsidiary, but a completely separate entity from the Honda Motor Company. Honda Aircraft Company was founded in 2006, but Honda has been researching the idea of an aircraft since the 1980’s, including producing an experimental product named the Honda MH02. From all of those years of research comes their first commercially sold aircraft, the Honda HA-420 HondaJet. This luxurious business jet will set you back roughly $5 million.

The HondaJet isn’t like most of its competition on the market. While production is still at less than 100 units per year, they’re looking to continually amp up the operation to get more HondaJets in the sky.

Single Pilot

Unlike most jets in its class, the HA-420 HondaJet is a single-pilot certified aircraft. This has caused a good amount of Honda’s first customers to be owner-operators. HondaJet cockpit

Over-the-Wing Engine

The first of its kind, Honda has implemented an over-the-wing engine design that they worked on for over two decades to research and develop. The company claims that this new technology leads to a more spacious cabin, less noise, and more fuel efficiency. HondaJet in flight

Interior

Honda has used everything that they’ve found out about the interiors of cars and used it in their aircraft. The cabin includes four completely adjustable executive-style seats with an optional fifth side-facing seat, a full lavatory, and plenty of storage and tables. All of the audio, lighting, temperature, and shades of the cabin can be controlled via monitors at every seat or an iPad. The craftsmanship inside is what you would expect from a $5 million private jet produced from a leading motor vehicle company: outstanding. HondaJet cockpit
